We believe that the entire nation should draw tenacious attention to the letter received by Defense Secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha dated 18th from Mr. Phillips Alston; the Special Rapporteur of UNO on extra-judicial, summary and arbitrary executions.
The UNO Special Rapporteur’s letter is based on the statement made to the ‘Sunday Leader’ newspaper by Mr. Sarath Fonseka; the presidential candidate of the treacherous alliance lead by Ranil-Somawansa-Mono Ganeshan- Hakim clique. From that controversial statement, Mr. Sratha Fonseka has stated that Defense Secretary Mr. Gotabhya Rajapaksha had ordered the then commanding officer of 58 Division Brigadier Shavindra Silva to kill LTTE terrorist leaders who came to surrender with white flags on 17th May 2009. UNO Special Rapporteur, quoting that statement has enquired whether it is true or not?. Also he has mentioned in the letter that if the statement is not true to prove its falsity. He has further stated that he needs Defense Secretary’s reply for his special report to be submitted to the Human Rights Council. He has further emphasized that he is making this inquiry into a statement made by the former General of Army and Chief of Defense Staff Mr. Sarath Fonseka.
Therefore it is crystal-clear that UNO is now planning to initiate an inquiry into the so-called diabolical ‘war crime’ allegations leveled against Defense Secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha. This is a very serious situation and would bring dire consequences to the entire nation. The Defense Secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha is caught up in those diabolical lies and allegations and also vicious attempts to bring him before UNO investigations purely because he took every possible step to eliminate the LTTE terrorism from Sri Lanka.
The presidential candidate of the treacherous alliance led by Ranil-Somawansa-Mono Ganeshan and Hakim clique has relentlessly and ruthlessly betrayed the defense secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakasha, 58th Davison and the entire war heroes to the vicious international forces. It has created the atmosphere necessary for the so-called investigations of the UNO. Also it will pave the way for the UNO to take necessary steps to punish Defense Secretary and other war heroes.
All what Ranil-Somawansa-Mono Ganeshan and Hakim clique wanted was to get elicited that kind of diabolical lies from Sarath Fonseka. He has now completed his unholy job given to him by the vicious international forces. The price that defense Secretary and other war heroes have to pay for their indefatigable efforts in saving this country from savageries of LTTE terrorism is to answer those diabolical allegations and to face extremely dangerous situations. It is clear therefore what Fonseka has done is the greatest betrayal in the history of our nation.
However we as a nation should unite against this ruthless betrayal of the presidential candidate of Ranil-Somawansa-Mono Ganeshan and Hakim clique. We urge that Sarath Fonseka should be brought before the Military court, investigations should be conducted into that relentless betrayal and he should be punished in accordance with the military law. We urge so, because as Sratha Fonseka was the former army chief and the chief of Defense Staff, he is bound by the military law even retired from military service. Also if action is not taken against him, it would pave the way for any other officer to do the same treacherous betrayal .
We urge that people should come to the street in mass scale and demand from the government to take legal actions against Sarath Fonseka. It is only through people’s actions that UNO could be convinced of the futility of its intended investigations. Also from these demonstrations of peoples’ unity and solidarity, we should show the nation’s gratefulness to Defense Secretary and other war heroes who have been now victimized and betrayed by Sarath Fonseka.
We request from all patriotic and progressive forces to come forward and act immediately.
