The 51st Anniversary of Great Cuban Revolution was commemorated on 2nd January at a function organized by the Bolivarian Solidarity held at Hotel Samudra auditorium at Ministry of Tourism. The chairman of the National Freedom Hon. Mr. Wimal Weerawansa and the Cuban ambassador in Sri Lanka, HE Nircia Castro Guera were the chief guests. Also Her Excellency, the Chinese ambassador in Colombo and Consul of Russian Federation Hon. Mr. Y. Sergienko too participated as Guests of Honor.Mr. Wimal Weerawansa delivered the commemorative speech of the Cuban revolution while HE Nircia Castro Guevara delivered a special speech on the significance of the day. Mr. Raja Goonaratne; secretary of the Bolivarian Solidarity welcomed the guests. Minister of Tourism, Hon. Mr. Achala Jagoda and chairman of Tourism Promotional Bureau Mr. Bernard Gunathilaka also participated in this function as this event was meant to initiate a Cuban-Lanka tourism promotional program.
The cultural show performed by the State Dance Troupe was an eye-catching event for everyone. The vote of thanks was delivered by the national organizer of Bolivarian Revolution, parliamentarian Mr. Mohamad Musamil.
