The national organizer of “ Jathika Nidhahas Peramuna ( National Freedom Front) Mr. Jayantha Samaraweera (MP) said that “ Somawansa’s request for UNO intervention shows the pathetic plight that JVP has plunged in today because it was JVP that pledged to the nation that it would not allow any foreign intervention until the last member of JVP is held his last breath”.
Mr. Jayantha Samaraweera (MP) expressed those views at the press briefing held at the Party Head Quarters, Battaramulla, Colombo today (03).
Further expressing the views he questioned as to what went wrong to demand UNO intervention. “ Those who cannot bear the brunt of defeat are now lying and make bogus rumblings about post-election violence’ said Mr. Samaraweera.
“But in fact, what we experienced after the presidential poll, was a calm, quiet and serene atmosphere very similar to that to that of “Full Moon Poya- day (Buddhist religious day)” atmosphere. After the election, UPFA members celebrated election victory by coming to streets and delivering kavum (traditional local home -made sweets) and kiribath (milk rice-cakes) to its members and to the members of the opposition candidate’s party”. said Mr. Samaraweera.
“ If Sartah Fonseka had polled 49% or more votes, they had planned to assassinate the President, his family members, key politicians, and some top security officials. Also they had plotted to attack the Palace of Temple Trees, Presidential Secretariat and Air Force Head Quarters. It is to execute that plan that they had reserved more than 70 seventy rooms in the Cinnamon Lake hotel and some other hotels in the vicinity” said Mr. Samaraweera.,
“ In the past, those who demanded foreign intervention are UNP leader Ranil, his henchmen, LTTE leader Velupillai Piribaharan and his international terror-network alleging that there was violation of human rights and no media freedom. They all are puppets in the hands of foreign agents. But unfortunately, today, JVP too has become a puppet of those vicious foreign forces. This is a new political phenomenon. It very clearly shows that JVP has totally abandoned its unblemished policies and is committing ‘hara-kiri’” said Mr. Samaraweera.,
