Chairman of Jathika Nidahas Peramuna (National Freedom Front) Mr. Wimal Weerawansa (former MP) said that 16 candidates who are committed to establish good governance, social development and social discipline would contest from Jathika Nidahas Peramuna in the forthcoming General Election.
He expressed those views at a press briefing held at party Head Quarters at Battaramulla, Colombo today (10). He further said that “We are fielding a group of candidates for this General Election who would be able to fulfill the aspirations of the patriotic people of this country. The List of Candidates with their respective electoral districts will be handed over to the General Secretary of UPFA, Mr. Susil Premjayantha tomorrow. This General Election is very important for this country. In the recently held presidential poll, people gave the President a powerful mandate. Now, we need to establish a powerful parliament in this general election that would further strengthen the President’s mandate”.
“The rumors that I am to come under the National List are wrong. For this General Election, I will contest from Colombo district, Piyasiri Wijenayaka from Gampaha district, Jayantha Samaraweera from Kalutara district and likewise several candidates will contest from a number of districts from our party. One of the distinguished members of our party well-known actor Mr. Buddhadasa Vithanarachchi will contest from Kegalle district” said Mr. Wimal Weerawansa
National Organizer Mr. Jayantha Samaraweera and Media spokesman Mr. Mohammad Muzzamil of Jathika Nidahas Peramuna also participated in this press briefing.
