A compilation of special parliamentary speeches delivered by Mr. Wimal Weerawansa; the chairman of the Jathika Nidhahas Peramuna (National Freedom Front) on the theme of national issue entitled “ Honorable Speaker” was launched yesterday (24) at the Temple Trees under the auspices of HE the President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha and with the participation of a large gathering of intellectuals, artistes etc. The other distinguished invitees were Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara, Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero, the general secretary of the Patriotic Bikkhu Front, leading journalist Mr. Sunil Madawa and Mr. Wimal Weerawansa’s class- teacher Ms.Apsara Soiza Gunawardena. He presented copies of the book to those guests.
President HE Mahinda Rajapaksha and Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara delivered speeches on Mr. Weerawansa’s role in the politics and Mr. Weerawansa also addressed the gathering.
Also Ven. Prof. Kamburugamuwe Vajira Nayaka Thero, Ven. Dr. Maduruoya Dhammissara Nayaka Thero, and ministers Mr. Dullas Allahapperuma, Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka, Senior presidential advisor Mr. Basil Rajapaksha and Defense Secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha participated for this occasion as special guests.
A large gathering including intellectuals, artistes and journalists such a Prof. Kalo Fonseka, Prof. Walter Marasinghe, Mr. Jackson Anthony, Mr. Somarathna Balasuria, Mr. Rukantha Gunathilaka participated in this occasion.
